House of Representatives Secretary General Nining Indra Saleh said on Tuesday that she was waiting for commissions to report on the results of their recent study trips abroad.
“Approval letters for the [trips dictate legislators] must provide their results after they return. We have asked for the reports and some have been turned in,” she said as quoted by kompas.com.
She also said that every House member has been informed about the format for the reports on study trips and that all legislators must comply with the terms of reference provided by the Secretariat General. The reports will then be made available to the public.
“The House speaker has suggested that the reports be published. So, after all reports are turned in, we will publish them on the Internet on our website,” she added.
Several House commissions went on overseas study trips during the recent recess session, bringing legislators under fire over their regular junkets, which a renowned budget watchdog claims have cost taxpayers Rp 12 billion (US$1.4 million).
